WASHINGTON, D.C.—FALEOMAVAEGA EXPRESSES DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF CONGRESSMAN DONALD PAYNE
 
Congressman Faleomavaega released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Donald Payne of New Jersey who served as the former Chairman and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Africa and Human Rights.
“Having served with Congressman Donald Payne for some 23 years in the U.S. House of Representatives and on the Foreign Affairs Committee, I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing.  Congressman Payne was a champion of the oppressed and lived his life in service to others.  He was my friend, my colleague, and an example to all who knew him.”
“He advocated for and on behalf of the people of West Papua and many other underrepresented people across the globe and throughout America.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him well.”
“I extend to his family my sincere condolences.  The thoughts and prayers of the people of American Samoa are with them at this time,” Faleomavaega concluded.
